Objectives

The Bridge is a charity focused on reducing disadvantage for women and increasing respect. To tackle this brilliantly broad need, we primarily use health and wellbeing as the tools for change.

Our vision: A world where women are not disadvantaged.

We run a charitable gym and additional charitable programmes to help increase the health and wellbeing of the women in Southwark, London and beyond. At the moment, our main area of impact is reducing the risk of diabetes (high BME population in Southwark, more prone to diabetes), but we are looking to expand our reach.

Activities

Many different areas make up The Bridge:

  • The building itself: located in the borough of Southwark, the building acts as a great meeting venue for all, while also hosting safe, female only spaces on the top two floors, which includes a women’s only gym.
  • The charitable programmes: running our own personally developed programmes, such as SWAP, and running funded programmes for partners; we spread health and wellbeing through education and practical skill workshops.
  • Community outreach: working with partners and running our own work, such as Open Weeks, for free use of our facilities, to break down barriers to health and fitness.
