Community Recreational Educational Arts and Theatre for Everyone!
Established for over thirty years, Youth CREATE is a Performing and Creative Arts Development Theatre Charity. We aim to offer personal and social development for children & young people of ALL abilities, through all aspects of Creative & Performing Arts. We have members that range in age from 4-25 years.
Our objective is to offer our classes to members of the community that may not be able to take part through regular channels; this may be due to financial, social, mental or physical health, learning and physical disabilities. We want to build their self confidence and teach them skills they can use out in the world too, using the Arts as our medium.
Our former members have gone on to succeed in all different avenues, some have gone on to perform on stage and screen, others have gone behind the scenes and learnt set making, puppeteering, sound engineering and many other careers. We give our members the opportunity to engage with their peers and also the wider community, giving them a sense of confidence and self esteem.
We run weekly two and three hour workshops during term time for two different age groups, with a programme which includes; arts and crafts, puppetry, film/media, animation, claymation, sign language, technical skills, improvisation, circus skills, speech, drama, singing, voice, music, Hip Hop, musical theatre, script writing, magic, music and much, much more!
We also run additional short courses during school holidays, as well as one-off specials where a Visiting Specialist is invited along or we run film and issue-based projects. Older members perform regularly to paying public and younger members demonstrate their work informally at the end of each project, as well as everybody having the chance to perform at community events.
Once somebody is invited to watch, this introduces the element of audience, which leads to the ‘theatre’ of their future.
They also have a lot of fun!
