Objectives

The Youth Adventure Trust is a registered youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Wiltshire and Swindon. Our programme provides young people with the chance to try new things and challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their expectations and grow in confidence. They have the chance to take part in a range of activities, work in a team, experience group living and challenge themselves in a new environment. The programme is built around three residential adventure camps in the Brecon Beacons, Dorset and Forest of Dean and a series of day activities based locally in Wiltshire.

Our programme is developmental and meaningful with numerous repeat opportunities for engagement over 2 years to make sure the learning sticks. We work with 11-16 year old's as they are at a stage in their life where they are making important decisions about who they are.  Decisions at this stage can have a massive impact on the rest of their lives and we want to support our young people in gaining the skills to succeed and build resilience through outdoor activities. We work with a wide range of young people, all of whom are disadvantaged or vulnerable and who do not have the opportunity to access positive activities that develop essential life skills and offer them the chance to challenge themselves & to achieve more than they thought possible.

Activities

We believe that all vulnerable young people should have access to personal development opportunities so that they can fulfil their potential in the future and we believe the outdoors can be a platform for this development.

We deliver a long term, early intervention programme of outdoor adventure activities comprising of 3 camps and a series of local activity days.  These activities are designed to  equip disadvantaged young people with the hope, confidence, skills and resilience that will last them a lifetime.

We promote the idea of review and reflection throughout our programme, with our young people working towards personal aims that build their mental toughness and increase their life prospects.
