Objectives

Ripon YMCA is a local independent charity and housing association. We are a member of YMCA England and Wales, who provide us with information and support.

We provide Supported Housing to young people aged between 16 and 35 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or are vulnerable. We also have a hall and lounge which is used by community groups and clubs regularly.

Activities

Working in partnership we aim to support young people from dependence to independence, supporting them for up to 2 years to develop, learn living skills and engage in education, employment or training opportunities.

The support we provide is based around the needs, wants and aspirations of the young person. We use individual support plans to work alongside our tenants to build confidence and ensure progress.

We are governed by a small group of Trustees who meet to support the work of the charity. We also have a Chaplain who is available to support our staff and tenants.

Ultimately our goal is to move our tenants in to their own property, shared house, flat or council accommodation. A key challenge locally is the lack of affordable options for our young people, which can then lead to further difficulties.
