Objectives

YMCA Fairthorne Group is a local community charity, delivering services to over 40,000 children, young people and families across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Built on a social enterprise model, all income we generate goes directly back into funding our local community projects and initiatives, from supported housing for vulnerable 16-25 year olds, to our renowned annual Young Carers Festival.

Our vision is ‘to be a leader in transforming communities so that all children, young people and families can truly belong, contribute and thrive.’ Today, our staff and trustees are working towards an ambitious 10 year plan of sustained and quality growth as outlined in our Strategic Plan, which is informed by our concept of ‘working the YMCA Way’.

YMCA Fairthorne Group has developed rapidly since it was formed in 2002, having supported hundreds of thousands of children and young people across our local region.

Activities

All our work is delivered in the YMCA Way: our unique set of values and behaviours sets us apart and makes us different. We put people at the heart of all we do, working creatively and with integrity with staff, volunteers and community stakeholders to deliver the every best for children, young people and families.

Our Values

  • Welcoming
  • Active
  • Listening
  • Inspiring
  • Caring
  • Exciting

We achieve our purpose through combining People, Places and Programmes. We believe that through the creation of spaces, people can come together and create impact.

People: Inspirational people who are part of the YMCA community and make a difference.

Places: Venues where people can come together, belong and feel part of the community.

Programmes: Services for children, young people and families, built upon Developmental Assets and which meet local needs.

Our vision is ‘to be a leader in transforming communities so that all children, young people and families can truly belong, contribute and thrive.’

Our mission is ‘to provide experiences that challenge, develop and enable the individual.’
