Yes is an award winning Community Interest Company established 8 years ago to help north Manchester residents to access employment, volunteering and learning opportunities, improve their digital skills, and achieve their ambitions. We are a provider of supportive, whole-person information, advice and guidance for unemployed and under-employed individuals in North Manchester. We are always positive, community focused and person-centred. Our vision is to “build confidence, drive ambition and inspire people to be the best that they can be”.
In our three offices, each based in an LSOA in the first decile of the 2019 IMD rankings, we offer free access to more than 50 internet enabled workstations where our customers can apply for work, develop their skills and receive coaching and mentoring in the use of digital equipment from our volunteer 'Digital Champions'. People in north Manchester view yes as 'their' service - they trust us and we have a proven ability to work with individuals that have struggled to work with the JobCentre or other more formal settings.
We use a bespoke assessment tool to help us and the customer to understand why getting back into work is difficult, and we work with them to develop an action plan to address the issues identified.
We help our customers to build CVs, search for jobs and complete applications, as well as referring them to long-standing partners to get help with debt, health, relationship issues. We also refer customers to training providers so clients can access skills training. In all cases, we track progress through regular progress discussions.
We work with local employers, to fill vacancies with local people and to provide work placement opportunities – providing valuable opportunities to gain experience, confidence – and perhaps even a reference!
Once in work, we continue contact and support for as long as needed, to make sure jobs are sustained successfully.
