Objectives

YFW operates from Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) and Dorset County Hospital (DCH),

Dorchester, providing a 24-hour service to deliver a fast, safe and effective emergency

medical courier capability throughout the South-West, serving hospitals, hospices, care and

nursing homes, laboratories and patients discharged to their own homes. YFW carries

urgently needed blood and blood products, blood samples, biopsies, MRI scans, X-rays,

prescription drugs, a variety of medical equipment and patient notes.

Activities

The service is provided free of charge to the NHS. YFW relies entirely on volunteers

and public donation to conduct its activities. Every penny raised goes to running the Charity

and no member of the Charity is paid for their services. High priority is given to fundraising,

service promotion and teamwork to ensure the delivery of a reliable, valued and professional

service to the NHS and the community.
