Objectives

YCT is a counselling and therapeutic support charity. We specialise in supporting children and young people aged 5 – 25 years, their families and the professionals who work with them. We aim to support children, young people and their families through challenging times so that they can feel hopeful about their futures.

Mental health is a massive issue for children and young people. 1 in 10 children and 1 in 5 young people have a diagnosable mental health disorder. 50% of all mental health problems have started by age 14 -  75% have started by age 24. Therapeutic support, such as counselling, can provide children and young people a safe place to help explore and talk about their anxieties, helping to building their resilience and allowing them to feel hopeful about their futures.

Activities

YCT is able to offer support for an endless range of often very complex issues, and does this through a variety of services. These include one to one counselling, group work, drama and art therapy, play therapy and therapeutic play, the Forest School programme, group sessions and programmes, workshops, training and assemblies.

We also provide parent-child therapeutic work, and also offers counselling, supervision, consultancy, training, stress and relaxation technique sessions to professionals.
