Objectives

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline".

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Founded in 2016 Wythenshawe foodbank has now grown to having four centres across Wythenshawe. Unfortunately, as the years have gone on we've seen demand increase every year. We have now fed over 8400 adults and 6681 children, distributing 156548kg's worth of food.

Activities

Through a network of local referral partners we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in hardship. We provided 28,242 meals last year (to April 2023) and gave out 1147 emergency food parcels (up from 800 in 2021). In the same time period we fed 1323 children. We offer a warm welcome, listening ear and signposting support to everyone visiting the food bank.
