Objectives

We create access to quality education through school design, teacher training, psychosocial support and classroom supplies in developing, disaster and conflict affected countries.

We have projects in Nepal, Ghana and Kenya, Syria, Pakistan, South Africa, India and Tanzania and we are looking to expand.

Our work gives children a safe place to go to school when otherwise they may have nowhere else to go, and ensures long-term impact by providing expert-led teacher-training programmes that enable the teachers we train to train others, creating a ripple effect. Bringing high quality education to vulnerable and impoverished communities provides the foundations for long-term and sustainable development.

Activities

All our key areas of work; providing educational infrastructure, supplies, teacher training and care programmes, are only delivered after a needs assessment and review is carried out. Our needs assessments are based upon the Inter-Agency Standing Committees and the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) needs assessment tools.

How we provide school design

We provide designs for educational spaces in challenging environments like refugee camps, working within the rules and regulations of the jurisdiction. We can also source materials and find teams to build the structures through our network of NGOs and in-country partnerships.

How we provide teacher training

We train teachers in pedagogy, school management and subject topics through in-country and remote training sessions carried out by our network of expert educational consultants. Our teacher trainers train teachers directly and follow this up with support programmes to create sustainability.

How we provide psychosocial support

We give care to the care givers, supporting the psychological needs of teachers and educational staff in developing and disaster and conflict affected countries who are themselves affected by the situation. This in turn helps them to deliver their teaching to support the pupils who are affected by disasters and conflict. Support is provided in-country and remotely.

How we provide classroom supplies

We source of educational supplies and furniture not required by UK schools or manufacturing companies and redistribute them to schools in developing and disaster and conflict affected countries, shipping them in 40ft containers.
