Objectives

  • World in Need exists for ‘Practical Mission.’ We work with children, their families and the local community to address poverty and tell them about Jesus.
  • The aim is for sustainability, by educating and encouraging children through school and on to further education increases their chance of paid employment. Eventually providing finances for their families enabling younger siblings to attend school.
  • The majority of the children have been rescued from the local slums or are orphans.
  • We run a child sponsorship programme where just under 400 children are able to attend school regularly, be provided with school uniforms, stationery and a basic meal every day.
  • We support three children's homes (2 in India & 1 in Bangladesh,) 6 schools (DR Congo, Kenya, Philippines, C Uganda, N Uganda, Sierra Leone), a school for Afghanistan refugees and a deaf resource centre in India.

Activities

Each of our fields is run by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, they provide a array of services from education, health care, a daily meal, school uniform and books etc.

We also have provided wells to provide drinking water, school buildings and dormitories.

Our funding is from child sponsorship, we run regular appeals and a gift programme.
