We are a Camden based health charity that helps isolated and vulnerable women overcome multiple health challenges and feel more optimistic about a brighter future for themselves and their families. Women + Health has been a safe, inclusive space for vulnerable, disadvantaged and underrepresented women and their families since 1986. We are pioneers of integrated healthcare, and our unique, person-centred, holistic approach nurtures complete physical, mental and social well-being.
Many of our service users have complex health and social needs, and include survivors of domestic and sexual violence, those suffering with multiple chronic physical pain conditions, burnout syndrome, PTSD, anxiety and depression.
We provide a range of holistic health services to women in the Camden community, to support them in managing their needs. These include NHS short term counselling, therapeutic gardening, life coaching, and CAMs (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) such as acupuncture, osteopathy and reflexology. We also provide low cost long term counselling to all our clients, and where possible we will prioritise BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) women for this service. For women that are unable to attend our center in person, we offer remote counselling sessions and online classes in yoga, mindfulness, facial massage, healthy baking, reiki and art therapy amongst others.
We prioritise our services (e.g. responding to the needs of the community, such as during the pandemic), and how we fundraise and engage with the community to ensure we can continue providing services.
Women + Health provides short and long term counselling and CAMs (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) to isolated and vulnerable women. Women + Health applies for grants, receives donations and runs fundraising events (e.g. Scuplture Walk) to help fund the organisation.
During the financial year 2022-2023 we delivered just under 4,400 counselling sessions to both long and short term clients and approximately 2,200 complementary and alternative medicine therapy sessions including events at Community organisations such as Hopscotch Women’s Centre and Henna Asian Women’s Centre. We took part in community events such as Camden New Town Festival and Hillview Festival. Approximately 700 clients visited our centre. Online complementary and alternative therapy sessions were delivered by fully qualified practitioners who were members of their relevant professional bodies and who received ongoing reflective practice.
