Objectives

The organisation mainly helps women and girls living in poverty in Kenya with charitable services targeting them as individuals, thier households and thier communities. WENDO will be offering the following services to the potential beneficiaries;

  1. Providing education financial support (in school fees) and other educational requirements (school uniforms, mobility items, shoes) for school going underprivileged girls.
  2. Carrying out girls mentorship for education and career development
  3. Providing sexual and reproductive health services and menstrual hygiene management supplies to girls and women of productive age living in poverty.
  4. Conducting vocational/livelihoods/entrepreneurship skills training, provide startup capital or assets for women living in poverty.
  5. Providing shelter, food and clothing for households of vulnerable women living in poverty
  6. Providing disability aids for disabled women and girls living in poverty
  7. Providing training on agri-business and agricultural inputs to women in poverty
  8. Conducting capacity strengthening of women self-help groups
  9. Supporting day care for services for children of women living in poverty
  10. Conducting awareness to men, community leaders and other community influential persons on and advocating rights of women and girls
  11. Providing community level water sanitation and hygiene and health services to women in poverty. 
  12. Providing of community-based health services

Through the services of this charity, women and girls will be economically empowered, thier access to education, health care and livelihood opportunities improved. Thes activities will utimately cotribute to the overall well-being and socio economic development of women and girls living in poverty. 

 

Activities

  1. Networking and Collaboration: WENDO is facilitating networking opportunities for women to connect with each other, share experiences, and collaborate to secure resource to offer services to women and girls living in poverty on projects. WENDO organises events, conferences, and workshops where women both in the UK and in KENYA can network and build supportive relationships.
  2. Skills development and capacity building: WENDO is focusing on enhancing the skills and capabilities of women and girls living in poverty through training programs, workshops, and mentoring initiatives. This includes providing access to resources, educational opportunities, and expertise to help women develop professionally and personally. The trainings and the capacity buildings will be carried out by both volunteers and other full-time personnel.
  3. Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment: The charity is encouraging entrepreneurship and economic independence among women living in poverty by providing support and resources for women to start and grow their businesses. This may include financial assistance, business training, mentorship, and access to markets and productive assets.
  4. Education and Awareness Campaigns: WENDO is conducting educational programs and awareness campaigns to address gender inequalities. Our work mainly focuses on educational support to young women and girls through payment of school fees and other educational material support.
