Objectives

Established in 2007, Wiston Lodge is an outdoor learning and education centre in rural Lanarkshire that aims to encourage personal, social and educational development through engagement in high quality programmes and projects. The Lodge is set in 52 acres of woodland, gardens, meadows, nature trails and designed landscapes, giving participants ample space for exploration, adventure and learning. We work with a diversity of groups to provide inclusive, tailored programmes that meets the needs of the people they support. Our customers include schools, colleges, youth groups, charities and the local community.

Activities

We encourage independence and self confidence in an environment that provides a balance between challenge and care. Activities are varied ranging from outdoor adventure activities, forest skills and nature connections to music and art. We teach transferable core skills (like teamwork, communication and problem-solving) that can be applied to daily living.  We do this in a friendly, fun way which enables individuals to grow.

We are a licensed centre and all of our staff are highly qualified, knowledgeable and competent.

Other community projects we have carried out include The Path of the Little People, a Children in Need and Lottery Funded sensory path for children, the WOW project (Wiston On Wheels), School holiday programmes and community events (Halloween's Twilight under the Tent)

We are investing in our facilities and buildings, renovating our games hall, building our community hub and biomass plant.
