Wise Thoughts is a pioneering arts charity that combines creative use of diverse art forms such as film, visual art, performance and delivers targeted services.
Based in North London, Wise Thoughts creates dynamic local, national, international art initiatives and delivers services to help address social justice issues and needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) and Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.
Wise Thoughts organises London’s LGBTQI cross-art annual festival GFEST – Gaywise FESTival in November.
Wise Thoughts is dependent on the commitment and passion of volunteers to help ensure a successful delivery of our programme of work. Volunteers are often the 1st point of contact and hence are advocates for the organisation. All volunteers may be required to work in different venues and/or during the evening. Volunteering duties include: providing administrative and IT support, conducting market research / getting audience feedback, coordinating events and activities, project administration, stage & project management, flyering, fundraising and generally helping to promote the organisation and its initiatives.
Volunteers should preferably have an understanding of how an arts organisation works and possess knowledge of LGBT / BAME culture. Daily travel expenses and a meal allowances will be provided
Our approach to engender social change is through offering platforms for creative expression that simultaneously captivate and challenge individuals and communities.
Our services are a key tool in engaging and informing individual beneficiaries and organisations. We work locally (in Haringey and North London), regionally (London and the South East), nationally and internationally depending upon the nature of each project.
Wise Thoughts Creative Cultural Hub – CCH activities have started in 2013 with support from Big Lottery Fund, Reaching Communities programme.
Established in 1999, we work on projects that involve LGBT and BAME artists, filmmakers and practitioners and organise cross – art showcase platforms such as GFEST – Gaywise FESTival, London’s annual LGBT cross-art festival in November. Wise Thoughts CCH provides an ideal space to channel our initiatives that help serve the needs of both our targeted and local communities.
