Objectives

Wirksworth Heritage Centre was founded in 1984 as part of the award winning Wirksworth Project town regeneration with the remit to tell the story of Wirksworth for future generations and visitors

Over the past few years we have applied successfully to the National Heritage Lottery Fund, were granted £1.3m to relocate to a central location in our town, renovate a listed building, making it accessible and set up a modern museum with a shop, café and supporting events.

We find ourselves in an entirely new business environment and are looking for additional Trustees to join our friendly, dedicated team to help shape a sustainable future.

Our organisation benefits from a team of dedicated volunteers who support by doing research, taking care of our collection, help with school visits, provide guided walks, host events such a Poetry Evening, Challenge Nights, Heritage Talks and similar.  They also support our visitors and help in our cafe, we also have a fundraising group. The trustees are also volunteers who support the strategic aims of the organisation.
