Windmills Opportunity Playgroup is a long established and well respected charity
playgroup run by trustees and has been operating in Burgess Hill since 1984.
Opportunity Playgroups were established across the country primarily to cater for
pre-school children with a range of additional needs. We continue to build on its past
success whilst adapting to the ever changing needs of our community and the
families within it.
We pride ourselves on having staff that can support children with a range of
additional needs and meet the government’s legislation of being inclusive. Each
child's individual needs are met through really getting to know our parents and
families, and by seeking support from other professionals if required. We also plan
an exciting and stimulating learning environment based on the children's interests.
We also received a ‘Good’ in all categories in our recent Ofsted inspection.
The playgroup is run in a financially sound manner, holding two years reserves to
enable continued operation should there be any shortfall in received funding.
There are more practitioners at Windmills relative to the number of children than mainstream playgroups and trained to NVQ3 and beyond. We have our own sensory room and large secure outside space for the children to enjoy.
