Wimbledon Community Association (WCA) is an independent registered charity based in Wimbledon. Our legacy dates back to 1946 when Sir Cyril Black MP led a group that founded the WCA with the aim of promoting the well-being of the broad community. Over recent years, following the closure of our popular community centre due to building problems, our focus has been on connecting people with venues that offer community space for hire, in Wimbledon, surrounding areas and across the Borough of Merton.
The new Board of Trustees, after consultation with local venue providers and user groups, has embarked on a new venture by building and launching a new website, Wimblecomm. Our new mission is to 'connect people with venues that provide community space for hire, and to develop an online community hub that enables sharing of news, best practice and networking in our local communities'.
WCA launched Wimblecomm in September 2016. The growing website directory enables non-profit venues to list their community space(s) for hire in Merton free of charge. There is also a Community Noticeboard where registered venues can publicise their local news, events and regular activities. Visitors to the website can browse or use the search engine to help them find the right venue for their needs. In line with its mission to become an online community hub, the website is being further developed to add a community blog and other features that will benefit venue providers and members of the public visiting the site alike.
