Objectives

Wiltshire Victoria County History Trust exists to help complete the greatest publishing project in English local history. We produce an in-depth history of every community in our county and in doing so provide everyone interested in local history with the basic source material for their research, from local people interested in the story of their community right through to professional historians. We have so far produced 18 of what will eventually be 25 volumes covering the county of Wiltshire, and are working on two more. The Victoria County History is of fundamental importance to all local history research and we are here to ensure it is comprehensively delivered.

Activities

To meet our objectives we raise money through fund-raising events and a 'friends' organisation, and by applying to appropriate trust funds. We then use this money to commission qualified historians to research and write the text of the Victoria County History, to meet the very high standards demanded of this important work.

Current opportunities
