Wild things! is an award winning environmental education charity working in Moray, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands as well as further afield. Since 2003, Wild things! has enabled over 13,000 children, young people and adults to learn from and be inspired by their local natural environment and the remote wilderness regions of Scotland.
Our programmes encourage a mutually beneficial relationship between individuals and their natural environment: we provide the opportunity for our participants to understand, appreciate and care for the natural environment whilst at the same time acquiring new skills confidence, and interests.
Our activities benefit the young (from 5 years up) and the ‘not so young’. We work in partnership with a range of organisations providing extra support for young people considered ‘at risk’ or who are struggling within mainstream education as well as vulnerable adults.
Wild Things! offers a broad range of activities including:
School Programmes - We offer programmes suitable for all ages, from Forest School and Coastal Classroom sessions, to supporting pupils working towards their John Muir Award. We can also deliver tailor made programmes to suit each school’s environmental education needs.
Nature Experiences - We deliver nature experiences suitable for children, young people, adults and families. Our nature experiences range from one day bushcraft clubs during the school holidays, to residential wilderness adventures spent in wild and remote regions of the Scottish Highlands.
Training Courses - Here at Wild things! we offer a selection of outdoor training courses, from full six day accredited training programmes, through to one day skills based workshops. Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructors support participants to learn brand new skills, or re-discover old ones. We have training and courses suitable for all ages and abilities.
Young Leaders Programme - We provide opportunities for young people to develop their confidence, ability and leadership skills through engaging with a wide variety of volunteering activities. We provide training and mentorship in bushcraft, conservation and outdoor leadership to help empower and inspire young people through interaction with the natural environment.
