Objectives

We are in a climate and ecological emergency. We plan to work together to minimise further change and adapt to the consequences of the change we have already experienced. We need to take action on a Local as well as Global scale. At What Next? our goal is to support local communities across Waverley Borough in mitigating, preparing and adapting to the impact of climate change and ecological damage. We aim to provide: information, support, advice, guidance and action through activities, events, workshops and installations in our centre. Equally important, we aim to provide: entertainment, joy, opportunities for creativity, music, fun, connection and, most all, hope for the future.

Activities

Planetarian Food Project - We cook and grow food  and collect good food that might go to waste to cook for the community. The project has identified our diet as a significant way to help live sustainably. We plan to offer knowledge, information and practical help to local people wishing to understand the carbon footprint of the food they eat and move toward a diet that has a low(er) carbon footprint.

Our Climate Club is an opportunity to get together with others who are concerned about the climate and ecological emergency. It is for anyone who is looking for a community to provide support and help when thinking about these issues, and in making changes to help mitigate and adapt to inevitable changes.

At club sessions, we discuss the latest news and share information concerning the climate and ecological emergency, review books and articles on climate change, exchange thoughts and ideas about greener choices, and watch and reflect on short videos and films.

Join us between 5:30pm and 8:00pm, bring along your own evening meal (we have china and cutlery) or share a bowl of soup with us. The sessions are informally structured, typically there’s a general discussion until about 6:00pm, then we share food. From about 6:30pm there will be some content, a short presentation or video, and then a more focused discussion on the theme.

Eco - theatre group - Meeting through the autumn and winter; the group will create and develop eye catching tableaus, performance art, comedy, short plays for use at outdoor events, festivals and on eco-tainment evenings

The What Next Lounge will be out and about in Godalming throughout the year; often in Crown Court, but also at other events. Join us for a chat, a nice cuppa or even a slice of cake. We aim to provide information, inspiration and ideas about taking action in response to the climate emergency. And we love to lay on some entertainment and activities for young and old.
