Objectives

WellRedFilms (WRF) is a network of progressive video makers and activists set up across England in Feb. 2015 to make and distribute radical/left-wing videos on a range of social, political and economic issues. As of Feb. 2016, we had made 20 videos which you have view on our Vimeo channel.

WRF’s purposes are: a) to give an alternate/progressive view of the world through the use of provocative and well-edited videos …and make sure that they get as wide distribution as possible via the Internet; 2) to provide a video presence for those issues and communities which seldom get a ‘look in’; 3) to provide training in video filming and editing; 4) to be a place of collaboration for progressive videographers and activists interested in videos with an alternate message; 5) to establish a democratically-functioning and practically-oriented group to achieve the above objectives.

As of Feb. 2016, we had about 15 members who lived in 6-8 cities across the UK.

Activities

Our main activities are: a) discussing and debating what videos we should make and who in the group is able to make them; all of our videos are a team effort of working groups of 2 to 6 people; b) actually making the videos ---which is a very labour-intensive activity; c) distributing our videos, primarily on the Internet and through Facebook groups; we are members of +200 groups; d) operating as a group with elected officers (chairperson, secretary, and treasurer), discussing issues in our closed Facebook groups, holding online meetings via Skype, and occasionally meeting in person (as finances allow.) .
