Objectives

WellFound is not-for-profit international charity providing water, sanitation and health programmes in West Africa. Since 2005, WellFound has worked in over 88 villages providing clean water for over 90,000 people. WellFound works in remotest villages often not reached by other NGOs or Government. We not only provide water, but also work in improving sanitation, health, hygiene and nutrition.

Activities

WellFound works with each community for over 2-3 years, ensuring that the project inputs are sustainable and the community takes full ownership. After installing wells and means of accessing clean water, our staff also work to establish market gardens which are owned and run by local women-this socially and financially empowers them, allowing them to earn extra income and access a more nutritious and varied diet. We also select and train young people in villages in construction and basic engineering to ensure that they are able to continue the work and maintain these resources. A variety of workshops are held in the villages on subjects ranging form the value of women in the community to hygiene, horticulture and sanitation.
