WCDG promotes community involvement in improving the places and spaces of value for the benefit of all.  We empower people to positively engage with the design of their environment; aesthetically, practically, socially and economically.  Our aim is to develop individual ownership and collective responsibility of local environments. WCDG has evidenced that this deters crime and anti-social behaviour, reduces littering, graffiti, etc.

Through general meetings and events, which are open to everyone, we bring together people who might not otherwise meet. Through a shared interest in the improvement of their local environment they can build social networks.

We encourage full consultation on proposed changes to local spaces to ensure the proposals meet local needs

WCDG exists to ‘hear’ and then represent our community in the development of shared local spaces. We have been an advocate for the community for 50 years, registering as a charity in 2006.
