We are the central hub for volunteering in Kensington and Chelsea, recruiting, developing and placing volunteers in the local community since 1969.
We exist to champion rewarding volunteering opportunities and promote volunteering as a force for change and social good. Our mission is to build the capacity of local people and organisations by empowering our community to realise their potential through volunteering.
We provide a range of training to support both the organisations who host volunteers including good practice, equalities, recruitment and retention of volunteers, accessibility etc), as well developmental training to volunteers who register with us.
The heart of the Centre is our volunteer brokerage service. In the past year 200,000 hours of volunteering were completed through the 1,500 people we placed with the network of the 374 local volunteering programmes we advise and support to shape high-quality roles, enabling a diverse range of people to improve their lives while helping those around them.
Our specialist programmes serve some of the most deprived residents in the borough – ex-offenders, the long-term unwaged, those with persistent poor mental health, substance misusers and disabled people - empowering them to overcome the barriers they face, using volunteering as a route to employment, better health, and increased independence. New skills and experience, greater focus and self-confidence, stronger connections with the rest of the community, can all help people make big changes in their lives and the lives of others.
