Objectives

The Venkat Trust was set up in 2004 to bring free education to the poor fishing village of Kovalam, near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India.  From only basic primary school facilities, the village now has a 1000-pupil higher secondary school and our sponsorship scheme provides improved welfare for 400 seriously disadvantaged children.  We pay their fees for university and vocational training thus enabling them to have good careers and see the end of poverty which has blighted their families' lives for generations.

Activities

We have

By providing an excellent  academic education and sporting and leisure facilities in the seven buildings we have put up, we are witnessing a remarkable turn around in the fortunes of the children and young people of the poor village of Kovalam (not to be confused with its well-heeled namesake in Kerala).  The previous hopelessness of their situation has gone, now they can enjoy a wonderful future in stimulating and well paid careers.  Goodbye poverty, it's called education.
