United Charities of Cambridge United Charities (UCC) is a small charity which looks after a number of Almshouses in Cambridge and has funds which it distributes to organisations working in the field of poverty alleviation.
UCC owns twenty-eight one-bedroom unfurnished almshouses which are available, in general but not exclusively, to people over 55 with limited financial resources who have lived in Cambridge for at least two years.
The Charity is run entirely by volunteers who must reside in Cambridge and surrounding areas, with the exception of the Secretary to the Board of Trustees which is a remunerated post. Furthermore, in order to pursue its objectives effectively, the Charity seeks professional advice where necessary. It is registered with the Charity Commission, providing Annual Reports and Accounts.
