Objectives

UniArk is a registered charity, established to support students from persecuted communities make competitive applications to universities in the UK, US and Europe. Our mission is to increase the number of students from persecuted communities in global universities and help them to leave their oppressive environments to become world leaders and changemakers.

The number of students from persecuted backgrounds in higher education is ridiculously low and our work will address this directly by offering tailored 1-1 mentorship programmes to those interested in pursuing higher education.

Activities

UniArk has a large pool of volunteers and mentors who work together to run the charity and its mentorship programme. We match mentees with mentors of a similar academic and social background where they work together on drafting personal statements, scholarship applications, interviews and other elements in the university application to best prepare the mentee.

Our administrative staff help monitor our inboxes and respond accordingly while also support the day-to-day functioning of the charity. Our fundraising team work to raise funds to help cover the everyday costs but also funds to support students application and other costs incurred with applications such as application fees, travel and visa costs.
