Objectives

At Tutor The Nation, we aim to address the growing divergence of educational opportunity and educational success, between the relatively privileged and the relatively underprivileged. We do this by delivering online, 1:1, subject-specific, free tutoring sessions

So what makes us unique? Our 1:1 online tutoring is completely free: to the pupils, tutors, schools, and the taxpayer. We interact directly with local councils to ensure that we support the young people who need it most.

The benefits of the tutoring provided by our volunteers coated by overstated. Apart from helping with a particular subject matter, not only does this give the confidence ad tools to do better academically, but more importantly, the motivation to be the best of themselves in their future aspirations.

Tutor The Nation feels it is imperative to offer extra support to pupils in the state sector who will be severely disadvantaged as young adults looking for employment in an uncertain economic climate. With your help, we can address the immediate challenge linked to the pandemic in addition to providing a longer-term contribution to reducing educational inequality.

We understand that many university students are themselves finding student life, of the lack of it, difficult. Together we can contribute to enhancing student experiences from home. The feedback we have received so far suggests that volunteering remotely has had a positive impact on the volunteers and many felt uplifted by the mentoring process. As there are fewer opportunities for travel or internships available, this will be perceived as a positive way of spending time during a period of national uncertainty.

Activities

Tutor The Nation works with university students, recent graduates, and experienced tutors to volunteer and provide free, one-to-one, online tuition to pupil the State sector (years 10, 11, 12, and 13) who are preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams. We focus our efforts in areas of deprivation where pupils are in danger of underperforming. During school closures, given how much less online teaching there has been in the State sector in general compared with the Private sector, TTN feels it is imperative to offer extra support to children in the State sector who will be severely disadvantaged as young adults looking for employment in an uncertain economic climate. TTN aims to address this immediate challenge in addition to providing a longer-term contribution to reducing educational inequality.
