Turn Around is an educational charity which provides free, effective, one-to-one tuition in basic skills (reading, writing, English language and basic maths) to children and adults in South East London. It operates in six locations in the boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham and has an annual expenditure of £20-30,000, delivering its services through a group of more than 30 volunteer tutors, with a success rate of more than 98%. We help people of all ages and communities to realise their potential and Turn their lives Around.
We maintain a Centre for the exchange of educational publications and materials and facilities for tuition in literacy, basic skills and life skills. This is supplemented by Outreach services provided in four other locations and by remote support to students using appropriate technology. In addition, wherever we can, we assist our students to access other educational opportunities and overcome problems which are barriers to learning.
