TS Britta Sail Training is a community focused not-for-profit (CLG No.13247381) organisation which seeks to make sail training available to a broad range of people, regardless of background, age or level of ability.
Our objectives:
Provide access to sail training programmes to a broad range of communities. To include people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
To engage the local community by offering various volunteering opportunities. Volunteering opportunities will exist in boat maintenance and renovation, business operations and sail training programmes.
Increase community awareness and engagement with traditional and heritage practices within maritime history.
Collaborating with other social enterprises and charities in environmental and historical projects with a maritime-focused component
Support the activities of the global Tall Ship community by attending maritime festivals and events
Operate as an “eco-cargo” and alternative/green travel ship.
Our Swedish Gaff Ketch is currently docked at Porth Penrhyn, Bangor and is undergoing major refit work. This work is largely carried out by a skilled team of professional shipwrights and unskilled supervised volunteers.
In exchange for hours/days volunteering, we're offering hours/days sailing once we're operational.
Post-refit we will be chartering Britta for sail training, community and educational trips, private charter and much more. We're currently designing our sail training programmes and other offerings, whilst the refit work continues on board.
THE EVENTUAL AIM IS TO DRAMATICALLY TRANSFORM LIVES FOR THE BETTER
