Strategic objectives

The strategic objectives are:

  • Carers know about the Centre, find it accessible and perceive it a service for them
  • Carers are educated about services, their rights and other information they need to carry out their chosen caring role effectively
  • Carers are able to recognise that their own needs are important and are supported to take action to improve their lives
  • Carers will feel less stressed and isolated and feel more healthy and confident and thus able to carry out the role they choose
  • Carers have a stronger voice in service development and the Centre will help to ensure that services better fit Carers’ needs

Trafford Carers Centre offers advice, advocacy, information and emotional support to anyone who is an Unpaid Carer in Trafford. The Centre holds details of other organisations in Trafford and numerous publications. This information is used to help Carers to learn about their rights and the services available to them. The Centre can also liaise with Social Services or other agencies or accompany Carers at meetings to secure practical and general support for the Carer or the person they are caring for. The Centre provides a listening ear for any Carers that require emotional support or simply want to off-load their problems or discuss their concerns.

Carers Assessments

Our casework team works with carers to assess their needs and look holistically at their life and how their caring role is impacting them.

Emergency Card

The Centre operates an emergency card service. This scheme means that in the event of the Carer being in an accident or emergency, Trafford Warden Services are contacted to Co-ordinate care for the person the carer looks after. Carers can also activate emergency sitting services in illness or emergency.

Carers Support Funds

The Centre offers a flexible fund for any Carers who look after adults to have some time out.

We operate a Counselling service to Carers in Trafford from our Health and Wellbeing Centre in Sale.
