Objectives

Founded in 1884, Toynbee Hall has been a powerhouse for social change for almost 140 years and we believe our role is more important than ever.

Based in the East End of London, we work alongside people who live here, to tackle unfairness and make this a place where everyone has an equal chance to thrive. We believe everyone has something valuable to offer in the fight for a fairer future.

Activities

Toynbee Hall works alongside people facing poverty and injustice to build a fairer East London and beyond.

We provide free, expert debt and legal advice services, free, inclusive community activities and events. Our work is geared towards supporting members of our community, not only in times of crisis but on a longer term basis by providing them with the skills and support they need to open up access to opportunities.

Our research is co-produced alongside local people on a range of issues affecting the community. Our research and policy work provides a platform for local voices to influence thinking and policy-making both locally and nationally based on lived experiences, to create long-term solutions to the systemic challenges people face.
