TimeBank is a national volunteering charity. Our aim is to transform the volunteering experience and make it a real force for change. We are passionate about volunteering and believe it can have a huge impact on the lives of individuals and their communities.
TimeBank recruits, supports and trains volunteers to tackle complex social issues. We have developed particular expertise in mental health mentoring and know it improves people’s quality of life and helps them feel more ready to engage with society. Over the last five years we have been funded by the Government to deliver an extensive volunteer-led project offering language training to UK residents with little or no knowledge of English - a project that has become a core part of our work. Our employee volunteering is also valued for its professionalism and flexibility. Our projects change people’s lives by giving them confidence and independence. They also deliver rewarding experiences for our volunteers.
TimeBank recruits and trains volunteers, matching them in one-to one mentoring relationships to deliver social impact projects that directly address the needs of disadvantaged and socially excluded groups across the UK.
Our projects support ex-servicemen and women who are finding it difficult to adjust to civilian life; we mentor refugees and asylum seekers through the challenging transition to life in the UK; support refugees into sustainable employment and focus on the needs of 'hidden' carers - those from BME communities who don’t recognise themselves as carers.
Our English language project, Talking Together, recruits and trains volunteers to run basic, everyday English courses to predominantly Muslim women.
And we also take an innovative approach to employee volunteering, where the emphasis is on helping employees develop leadership, decision-making and negotiation skills while making a genuine difference in their local communities.
