Objectives

Thyroid UK supports people who have undiagnosed thyroid disease by educating them about thyroid disease and related disorders, informing them about thyroid testing to aid in their diagnosis and also about good nutrition to enable good thyroid health.

We also help people to learn about treatment options (up to 16% of people do not do well on the preferred treatment given by the NHS) once they have been diagnosed as well as help them to find their optimum levels of thyroid hormone.

Undiagnosed hypothyroidism and incorrect treatment can be a barrier to taking part fully in work and family life.

Activities

Thyroid UK has an Information Pack with various leaflets about the thyroid and endocrine system, diagnosis methods and treatment options.

  • We also have a membership which includes four issues per year of our member magazine, Harmony.
  • Our online community, Facebook and Twitter pages are a good source of support for thousands of people.
  • Our telephone helpline is another way that people can find support.
