Theatre Lab Company produces inspiring theatre, which aims to inspire people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. We are committed to reaching out to audiences, including young people from diverse backgrounds, with limited access to experience the arts. Our latest project, Emmeline, focuses on the lives of the Pankhurst family who led the Suffragette movement aimed at giving women the right to vote. It includes the production of learning resources for secondary school students aimed at provoking reflection and debate around women's ongoing struggles for equality, as well as other current movements, including, the Black Lives Matter movement, the Extinction Rebellion. For this project, we have employed a new female-led team of artists and creatives. This project is the first in a planned trilogy of theatrical explorations of famous women who have changed the course of history.
The main activities of Theatre Lab is making theatrical productions. These are performed in a variety venues, including mainstream theatre venues and also fringe venues, community centres and so on. We also provide training for aspiring actors and the opportunity to perform on the professional stage. We provide generous discounts to provide access to as many people as possible and have provided free access to specific groups, including homeless people and women experiencing domestic violence.
