Tennis Shropshire is a registered charity, affiliated to the LTA and is run by the Committee of Trustees made up of volunteers from across Shropshire who share a common goal of supporting and promoting participation in tennis across the county.
We are a local charitable organisation run by volunteers, and we are also a member of tennis’s national governing body, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). Tennis Shropshire (TS) acts as the governing body of tennis in Shropshire. Tennis Shropshire is run by a Board of Trustees which has responsibility for all aspects of the operation of TS, and is supported by an Operational Group with delegated authority for the day-to-day oversight and support for of TS activities.

We are funded by a mixture of income streams, including members registration fees, grant funding and sponsorship.
Tennis Shropshire is opening a community tennis centre, funded through a combination of grant and loan funding, and has also recently registered for VAT. The County has also become a registered charity and is required to comply with the governance requirements of both the Charities Commission and the LTA. Accordingly the County would like to appoint an experienced accountant to replace our long serving treasurer who has decided to step down after a number of years of service.
Tennis Shropshire through its Trustees and Operations Management team supports 36 clubs with 4500 members in the delivery of tennis to adults and children working towards ensuring that the sport is inclusive and available to everyone whilst delivering tennis to other areas of the community that includes:
To support making tennis available and affordable to everyone, Tennis Shropshire is opening a community tennis centre, funded through a combination of grant and loan funding. This facility will be purely Pay & Play with no membership required. It will also support the drive to developing the Tennis Shropshire Community and Disability programs.
In addition to this Tennis Shropshire are keen to develop Padel Tennis by looking at possible venues to build courts for what is the fastest growing sport in Europe.
