Objectives

Rainbow Haven is the main project of TEMCA. We support refugees, people seeking asylum and other vulnerable migrants by holding regular drop-ins (3 a week) providing advice and support, activities and a hot lunch.

People who are new to the UK and may be fleeing war and persecution arrive bewildered and exhausted and can easily become isolated. These are resilient and resourceful people, and our support enables them to rebuild their lives and contribute to the UK.

Activities

All our groups are designed to build confidence and skills, and to provide opportunities for having fun and making new friends. As well as advice, support and a hot lunch, we provide a wide variety of activities and courses such as English, employability and work club, driving theory, IT, choir, mothers and babies group, arts, crafts, sewing, gardening and physical activities. We hand out food parcels and signpost people to organisations which may be able to help.  We are a Hate Crime Reporting Centre

We work with a wide variety of partners to provide these activities, for example NHS, the Police, Gorton Visual Arts and Musicians without Borders. Anybody whom we feel can help deliver our aim of providing a warm, welcoming, interesting and friendly space.
