Objectives

To provide a place with tools, equipment, scrap materials and community to enable people to work on personal or group projects, and to foster community spirit around the hobby of making, or improving things.

Activities

We provide a place - the Makerspace - with tools and equipment, and organise events.

We have a wide range of equipment and interests from traditional skills like woodwork and metalwork, through arts and crafts, to higher tech activities such as 3D printing, Laser cutting, electronics, programming and digial design.

When there isn't a pandemic, we like to organise tutorials and taster sessions, such as introduction to robotics, recycling pallet wood to make furniture, and learning how to use Arduinos and similar "tiny computers" to control electronics.

We also like to help out local good causes when we can, for example producing custom-made crates for a Christmas Toy Swap project; 3D printing PPE for health workers when it was in short supply at the start of the pandemic; fund-raising for, and running an "Iron Santa's Grotto" in the local hospital, where one of our members 3D printed a Santa/Ironman costume to give out toys to hospitalised children in December 2021.
