Funding quality education from pre-school to GCSE level for Zambian villagers in a remote communities, leading to good job prospects. We are funding, and in close contact with, Nsobe Community School in the rural Copperbelt where there was previously no access to education. TA funds running costs, teacher's salaries, food, books and raise funds for buildings. There is a wonderful rapport between the 2 organizations. 450 children, 23 teachers.and ancillary staff. The school started in the founder's front room in 2009 and has grown year on year, the first ever class now awaiting GCSE results and having places at Tertiary colleges, vocational colleges and university
Teacher Aid works tirelessly to get people to come on board our monthly support fund, incorporating a pen--pal scheme. We put on fundraisers and apply for grants, but it constantly gets more difficult to secure funding. We visit once or twice each year and managed to go in 2020 and 2021. We have a close relationship with the Founder/Director, pupils and teachers alike. The government has deemed Nsobe as a "model" school, an example of what can be achieved on a shoestring!
We the backbone of the school. The difference in the communities is already apparent and parents/guardians are keen for their children to have an education rather than work in the fields and homes, remaining illiterate.
We consider our input has be crucial. without us the school could not survive. Our experience could be passed on to another school providing the "leader ie Director and Head Teacher area truly committed to the children's education. For now we will direct our energies into Nsobe until the longed-for tertiary college for agriculture is built.
