Founded in 1919 following The Great War, Tarporley War Memorial Hospital was the brainchild of a number of high profile villagers and philanthropists. It remained an independent Hospital until the introduction of the NHS in 1948.
As part of a government scheme all Cottage Hospitals were due to close in 1978 and Tarporley Hospital was one of them. Tarporley residents did not want this to happen and started a campaign Save Tarporley Hospital, which they did! The Hospital has a special place in the heart of our local community and we are proud that we continue that legacy started all those years ago.
As a local community hospital, we seek to meet the needs of our community. We have 16 inpatient beds and we care for those who require rehabilitation following surgery, those who have a medical condition which needs stability, those who are end of life care, but don’t want the stigma of going into a hospice. We have a day centre which operates three days per week, caring for the elderly and providing much needed breaks for carers. We also operate a private respite service at a very competitive rate. We also have outpatient clinics and below are listed just some of the services we provide:-
General Practitioners are able to offer: Minor Surgery, Cryotherapy and Women's Health Clinics in our refurbished theatre.
Consultants are able to offer clinics in: Rheumatology, Frailty.
Other Services Available are: Triage/minor injuries, Outpatient Physiotherapy, Out of Hours GP Service, Dressing Clinic, Ultrasound Clinic.
We are very open to enquiries about other services hiring our consulting rooms and theatre in order to best support our local community and surrounding villages.
