Talking Tree is operated by Talking Tree CIC, which is a Community Interest Company. This means that any profits can only be used for the benefit of the community. It was established by a group of people concerned about the climate emergency and the urgent need to take positive action to reduce CO2 emissions and establish a different relationship with the Earth on which we all depend.
Because we are not able to open our building under the current Covid 19 restrictions, we are now offering some activities online. Click here for details
We have also developed the Talking Tree Community Kitchen, collecting surplus food, (food that may otherwise go to waste) and using this to prepare nutritious meals that are then distributed to the local community.
Once we are able to open Talking Tree will be a shared space dedicated to building community and improving our local environment. It will be a welcoming place for people to meet and share skills, ideas, and information that will address the issues that affect us all, such as fuel and food poverty, loneliness, the climate and ecological emergency, the type of world we want to live in after the corona virus pandemic is over.
Our on-site cafe will serve a vegetarian/vegan menu and we will have an inspiring programme of music, film, arts, crafts talks and workshops providing practical help on how to live more sustainably. Together we can build a better Spelthorne.
