Objectives

TALK is a Surrey-based charity helping people with speech and communication difficulties (aphasia) following a stroke. We operate five volunteer led, communication support groups - two in Guildford and in Knaphill, Walton on Thames and Ashford - along with a home visiting service for those unable to access a group. TALK's primary aims are to increase confidence and aid recovery of people with aphasia, and we have a vital role as a source of long term support for them in the local communities we serve.

Activities

Our groups meet each week during term time. Volunteers provide a planned programme of activities enabling stroke recoverer's to practise communication, have supported conversations and rebuild their confidence in a social setting. Activities may include: discussions, picture and word worksheets, art, horticulture, music and Boccia. Volunteers support recoverer's on a one to one basis within the group.
