Objectives

Sustainable Amersham is a local community organisation deeply concerned about the devastating impacts of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. It acts as an umbrella for a number of groups that design and implement projects that address these impacts. These include a Repair Cafe, a Green Energy Team, a Plastics Free Town project, a Green Families group and Wild Amersham. Sustainable Amersham works together with individuals, local government, businesses and community organisations in Amersham and Chesham Bois. It has low running costs and does not charge a membership fee. As an umbrella organisation it plays a key role in enabling the work of the groups by providing central management and oversight, input and support from volunteers, and access to various facilities (such as a bank account, insurance and Zoom). All groups undergo an approval process before they are taken on.

Activities

All our project teams hold separate monthly meetings and feedback progress at a regular general monthly meeting of the wider group. All meetings are minuted and shared to members. We communicate with our supposes via a monthly newsletter and social media as well as various WhatsApp groups. Where appropriate a project will have its own steering group to oversee goals and targets.
