Surrey Young Farmers is made up of seven clubs across Surrey, six of which for members aged 10-17, one for members aged 18-28. Despite its name, Surrey Young Farmers is open to everyone, and we encourage people from both rural and town locations to sign up. We provide young people with social events, fun activities, rural experiences, and the chance to learn new skills. We believe that it is crucial to encourage young people to get outdoors, away from phones and computers, and hope to provide them with lifelong friends as well as fantastic opportunities.
Surrey Young Farmers volunteer leaders organise weekly events during term time for each club. Some clubs run evenings where members are given the opportunity to gain certificates and qualifications, and leaders often utilize local contacts to give members new and informative rural experiences. Most of all, members are able to regularly meet with friends and have fun! Surrey Young Farmers also organises inter-club craft, public speaking, public reading, skill-based, and stock-judging competitions, where members can qualify for area and National championships - an experience they might not get elsewhere. We also organise an annual fundraising event, Cowpie Country Show, with help from a volunteer committee to fund Surrey Young Farmers for the upcoming year.
