Supportability is a local parent/carer-led charity that supports disabled people live life to the full. We support them to join in, make friends, achieve new things, and live as active and independent a life as possible. Now in our 67th year, we’ve supported thousands of children and adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and autism through our projects and services. We work predominantly in Stockport but also East Cheshire, Tameside, Manchester and Derbyshire. Providing our offer to people encourages social interaction and provides opportunities for pursuing interests whilst indirectly allowing carers a much needed break from the caring responsibilities.
At Supportability we know that everyone is different, and so we put an individual’s interests, strengths and needs at the heart of what we do adopting a person centred approach. We offer a range of services including one-to-one support, residential care, supported Living, day services for disabled adults, adapted cycling sessions and leisure groups for people aged 14+. We currently support over 300 disabled people and their families. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and work closely with local commissioners and external agencies. In doing this we are able to ensure we provide a comprehensive training programme for our staff which in turn offers people a safe and good quality service offer.
