At Sunshine Sunflower Foundation we are helping young people grow. We are a small charity based in HD8 who support disadvantage young people (16-24) to improve their general well being by providing an opportunity to learn hand-on landscape gardening skills in a therapeutic way. Our young people are given a 12 month paid placement and given advice on becoming a self employed landscape gardener or we seek to secure an employer at the end of their placement.
We offer a 12 month paid placement to disadvantaged 16-24 year olds. Our client gardens are based in the HD8 area of Huddersfield. We have two trained RHS landscape gardeners who are kind and patient. We teach all aspects of health and safety and deliver horticulture knowledge and skills in a hands-on way. We hope the young person is then equipped to set up as a self employed gardener at the end of the placement. We work with other employers who are willing to take on our young people at the end of the placement too.
