We are developing a community nature garden. It will have a relatively local focus. It will be a site for education about the natural world and a site for programmes that improve wellbeing and health. A key beneficiary will be the local primary school, Sunnyhill Primary School, which will use the site each week for forest school and science activities. We will also have community forest school provision for children of all ages and adults. We are also looking to work with the local medical centre to support social prescribing and we are scoping some possible projects to support the wellbeing of people with dementia. We are developing the site at present (Spring 2021) and we hope that it will be open by Summer 2021.
We will host health and education programmes, ensuring maximum and widest community benefit from our small local nature site.
We will maintain the garden in a way that's sympathetic to its character as a quiet community nature site and by protecting and enhancing the scientific interest of the site.
