Objectives

SCOREscotland is a social justice organisation based in Wester Hailes. We deliver a range of services in West/South West Edinburgh. Our full name is: Strengthening Communities for Race Equality Scotland, and we are Edinburgh’s only locality-based anti-racism and multi-equality voluntary organisation.

Youth Work: Opportunities for children and young people to further develop their social skills through organised play and activities, and tackle issues that concern them as stated by the young people themselves.

Group Work: Opportunities for adults to come together to overcome isolation and barriers to participation.

Digital Inclusion: Opportunities for people to improve their access to online services and increase their confidence in digital skills.

Awareness Raising: Build awareness and knowledge in a range of contemporary issues relevant to the daily life of ethnic minority individuals. Opportunities to learn new skills, which empower them to participate effectively in all aspects of civic life.

Community Engagement: Supporting and facilitating development of social capital among minority ethnic communities to engage with local service- delivering partners to achieve equal access.

Programmes designed to bring together people from diverse communities, promoting integration and advancing social cohesion.

Access to our services: Any person living in the West of Edinburgh can access our services. Our primary aim is to provide a service to minority ethnic communities but anyone who thinks they may benefit, and supports our mission and values, can access our services.

Activities

Youth Work: Knots and Crosses Children's Club (7-10 year olds) and Knots and Crosses Youth Club (11-16 year olds) run every week with a varied programme of activities available. The youth team also supports young people to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as go on trips, support young people to engage in local events and conferences.

Group Work: Online group work sessions for adults on topics such as online safety, employability, education. In person group work sessions for adults to improve health and wellbeing based around various different topics such as nutrition.

Awareness Raising: Our Local CommUNITY Voices project engages with colleagues, partners and networks active in broader policy work – so that the Scottish Government and Parliament are sighted on the particular needs of BME communities, particularly in an area of multiple deprivation.

Climate change activities: Community Fridge, cycling sessions, bike repairs
