Activities

Street Children Iringa provides a home for 11 children and youths in Tanzania who have previously lived most of their lives on the streets. This house gives them a safe and loving place to call home and access education. This house was set up in 2016 and the children have thrived ever since they moved in. Street Children Iringa carry out regular street visits to help current street children and re home them, if at all possible, with family members. If this is not possible we work alongside the social welfare office in Tanzania, to re home these children elsewhere in a loving family. Street Children Iringa is in the process of setting up a second house which will be a safe house, a safe place for many street children to feel safe and gain guidance in the best ways for them to get away from their lives on the streets. This safe house is also a place for older street youths to gain guidance and support with setting up microenterprises. Street Children Iringa focuses on rescuing young girls from local villages who are being forced into child marriage and instead gets them into a safe boarding school where they can gain an education.
